Hundred Monroe inmates cause disturbance, threaten to set fires

Over a hundred inmates at the Monroe Correctional Facility caused a disturbance Wednesday night, threatening to set fires, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The WSP said that the inmates ignored verbal warnings, pepper spray, sting balls, and rubber pellets. Two housing units were evacuated.
KIRO 7 reports dozens of prisoners were seen handcuffed in the field.
No injuries were reported among staff or the incarcerated.
Earlier Wednesday, the Monroe Correctional Complex reported it had six incarcerated men who have tested positive for COVID-19. The men have been isolated from the general population and are getting treated from a health care team.
WSP says it’s believed the positive results prompted the incident Wednesday night.
