A driver reportedly drove a black sedan through along 11th and Pine in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, brandishing what looked like a gun with possibly an extended magazine. This had been the site of several nights of tense protests.
The driver is in police custody, a gun was recovered and one victim was reportedly shot in the arm. Less than an hour earlier, Mayor Jenny Durkan announced there would be less police officers at this location.
Not all of the details are clear at this time.

Driver plows through Seattle protest, possibly shooting one
Videos show the driver after he sped through 11th Ave. A witness told KOMO TV that the driver “floored it.”
When he came to a stop, a protester pushed a metal barricade onto the hood of his vehicle, while another protester used something to try to bust through the car windows. The man quickly exited the vehicle, initially appearing to wave a hand gun as protesters fled. People are heard screaming, “he’s got a gun.”
One victim was on the ground, to the side of the vehicle, as medics worked on a wound to his right arm. The Seattle Fire Department transported him to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Man appears to break past barricade. Leaves car after protesters bang windows. He was brandishing a gun.

“He was going down Pine … I catch him, punch him in the face,” the victim, Daniel, told photojournalist Alex Garland. “I hear a gun shot go off on my arm.”
He says he was trying to protect the crowd of protesters. No other injuries have been reported.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening. So far, it’s unclear if it’s directly related to the protest or if it’s a coincidence.
This is an ongoing, breaking news story and I will update when more details are available.
