‘Talk Less, Read More’: Book Club Round #2: “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Aug 31, 2020, 2:20 PM | Updated: Sep 9, 2020, 11:33 am

Online registration for tonight’s book club is now closed but you can still get the information if you email the KIRO front desk at elreceptionist@bonneville.com prior to 4pm PST.
———-
Join KIRO Radio’s Rachel Belle, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny O’Neil and your community for a virtual book club, where we read and discuss books to better understand the African American experience, to educate ourselves about inequality, and better equip ourselves to be allies who can help make change. It’s an opportunity to get comfortable feeling uncomfortable, to be vulnerable and humble and to grow as we discuss difficult topics together.

The first book we read was “So You Want To Talk About Race,” a New York Times best seller by Seattle writer Ijeoma Oluo. You can watch recordings of those book club meetings here: Meeting 1, Meeting 2, and Meeting 3.

Next up, the award winning, #1 New York Times best seller “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates, which you can read more about here. We’ll split the book up into chunks and have a series of Zoom meetings to discuss.

Please register below to receive the Zoom invite to the book club conversation & other useful information like discussion questions.

Meeting #2: Wednesday, September 9th (note: registration will end at Noon on September 9th) at 7pm PST

To clarify, this is a book club, not a debate. It is not a forum to argue about whether the protests or the police are right or wrong. It’s an invitation to have a healthy, respectful dialogue about the book. And we’ll be learning right along with you. Please join us. Let’s do the work.
