Two men have died after divers found them unconscious Thursday night in Green Lake in Seattle.
The men, both in their 20s, were swimming near a buoy on the east side of the lake, in roughly 17 feet of water, when they went under.
Two friends attempted to locate the victims and called 911.
Dive teams and two surface rescue boats arrived on scene within minutes, although murky water and darkness hampered search efforts, according to Kyle Moore, a Seattle Fire Department spokesperson.
One victim, a 26-year-old male, was pulled from the water after 30 minutes. He was unconscious and unresponsive. Rescue personnel performed CPR as he was transported to Harborview Medical Center.
The second victim, a male in his early 20s, was pulled from the water after 45 minutes. He was also unconscious and unresponsive when rushed to Harborview. The Seattle Times reports he died Friday at the hospital.
It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
