Seattle police officers are investigating a shooting at 11th Avenue and East Denny Way early Tuesday morning.

Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Department confirmed receiving a 30-year-old male with a gunshot wound around 5 a.m. 11th and Denny intersects at the northwest corner of Cal Anderson Park, roughly two blocks away from the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) area.

The victim was brought in by Seattle Fire Department medical first responders, who had gathered near the perimeter of the CHOP at a designated staging area. SPD confirmed with SFD that the scene was secure before medical responders entered the area.

The victim is not in life-threatening condition, and was in stable condition when he was transported. Police say he “refused to provide any information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or a suspect description to officers.”

There were additional reports of shots fired in the area around that same time, but there were no additional victims.
