All lanes reopen on I-5 Southbound after collision near SR 516
On I-5 Southbound just north of SR 516 near Des Moines, there was an early morning collision that blocked the four right lanes. The Washington State Department of Transportation first tweeted about the crash at 4 a.m.
Three lanes were reopened to traffic on SB I-5 just before 8 a.m., and at 8:30 a.m. all is clear.
The lane closures caused a backup south and northbound early Wednesday.
Medical Aid, Fire Assistance, the Incident Response Team, and the State Patrol arrived on the scene before 5 a.m. An investigation into the fatal crash led police to believe that the pedestrian was in the road intentionally.
