Six people injured in shooting near Kent bus stop
Six people were injured in a shooting near a bus stop in Kent on Monday evening.
Police say a Des Moines police officer found a shooting victim after being flagged down by a witness in the area of 232nd and Pacific Highway South just before 6 p.m. More officers arrived to find five more victims with gunshot wounds.
Five people were taken to Harborview Medical Center; two of them are in serious condition, and three people are in satisfactory condition as of early Tuesday morning. A sixth victim was treated at the scene and released.
All victims are men and range in age from 16 to 49 years old.
Police say the shooting does not appear to be random. Three people have been detained and are being questioned. It’s not clear yet if they’re suspects or their level of involvement in the shooting.
“We’re trying to figure out if there is any kind of relation between all of these subjects, maybe if they knew who the suspect was or if maybe one of these subjects knew who the suspect was,” Kent Police Commander Robert Hollis said.
Police say Pacific Highway South was closed for the investigation.
