A man was killed Sunday night in an officer-involved shooting in Pierce County.
Deputies were responding to multiple 911 calls around 9 p.m. Sunday night about a man firing a gun and possibly holding a knife to a neighbor’s neck. When deputies arrived on scene, they could still hear shots being fired.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Darren Moss Jr., says around 11:30 p.m. after deputies rescued three people from a home, the man came out of the home firing at them. Deputies fired back, killing him. No officers were injured.
“Everything had calmed down quite a bit this morning,” Moss Jr., said. “Right now, the investigation team is out here, just doing the initial investigation, interviewing witnesses and things like that.”
The Thurston County Critical Incident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
