A man is in custody after police said he stole a dump truck and led troopers on a chase late Thursday morning.

Troopers say the chase began when an off-duty King County deputy saw the man steal the truck. Deputies started the pursuit and Washington State Patrol joined it on northbound I-405 in Renton.

The pursuit continued to the I-5 interchange in Lynnwood.

The truck was finally stopped when spike strips were deployed on SR 525 at 180th in south Everett and its tires were flattened.

The driver then pulled over and was taken into custody.

No other vehicles were hit and no one was hurt.
