The sporting field of football may seem worlds apart from the geeky realm of fandom, but two Seahawks are bridging that divide. Richard Sherman and Bobby Wagner will charge into Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon in April.

Why?

Video games.

Specifically, Sherman and Wagner are offering fans the opportunity to compete alongside them as they go head-to-head playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

“Call of Duty has been their favorite game for a long time now and they routinely play online to sharpen their skills,” said Mitch Eisenstein, spokesperson for Wagner and Sherman. “Bobby and Richard look forward to squaring off against one another and proving who the best Call of Duty player is on the Seahawks.”

The con will hold qualifying Call of Duty matches on Thursday, April 7 from 2-4 p.m.

Six winning fans will then take the ECCC stage to play the first-person shooter video game on Sherman’s or Wagner’s team &#8212 playing against each other. That final bout will be at 4:30 p.m. that same day.

But gamers can’t just show up and play. If you think you have the chops to play at the Seahawks level, live on stage, then sign-ups start on March 8 at noon.

Just like the other Comicon royalty of actors, comic book artists and cosplay stars, Wagner and Sherman will also take photos with fans while at the convention. An ECCC ticket for Thursday is required to get into the competition or to get a photo.

It’s not the first time Seahawks have crossed over into geeky territory. Wagner, along with Earl Thomas, attended another convention with a nerdy niche &#8212 PAX Prime, also in Seattle. There, he took on teammates playing Madden NFL, one of his favorite video games. His other favorite &#8212 Call of Duty.

Sherman also isn’t a stranger to video games. He has been public about his fervor for Pokemon.
