Seattle police are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon near Alki Beach.

Police tweeted about the shooting, which happened near 60th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Stevens Street, around 1 p.m.

Multiple callers reported that shots had been fired in an alley.

According to the SPD Blotter, officers arrived and found a man wounded with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses said the suspect left the scene on foot, walking toward the beach. Additional officers flooded the area and found the suspect, and he was then taken into custody. Police say they found a 40 caliber handgun partially submerged in water at Alki Beach.

It’s believed that the suspect shot the victim as the victim drove down the alley. Detectives are interviewing the suspect and attempting to determine what led up to the shooting.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition.
