I’m going to propose what I personally think is the only way to finally prove who’s right and who’s wrong.

We now have a substantial movement that would not be unhappy to see the U.S. government overthrown. And it’s not just the fringe. The fringe can’t do something like this without the acquiescence of regular people. I think what’s driven regular people to the brink are the COVID restrictions.

I know they’re scientifically justified, but they can all-too-easily be seen as an oppressive government denying millions of people their right to earn a living.

So now that the vaccine is here, and now that we all know the risks, why not let people choose?

If a business thinks it can reopen safely, let it. If customers get sick and the business fails as a result, then it’s the virus that’s to blame – not the government.

As for the vaccine, let anyone who wants it get it. Ship the supplies to wherever the demand is highest. With half the country thinking the pandemic has been overblown, or that the injections come with tracking chips, there should be plenty to go around.

Instead of shaming and second-guessing, each one of us would be free to take responsibility for our own safety.

Then, the Universe itself — which doesn’t care about recounts or democracy or social media or perceptions of what’s true and what’s not  — will, in its own ruthless way, make a final decision on who’s right.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
