People say to me all the time, Monson, you sound like you don’t like unions, and my answer is, in the private sector, people are free to do whatever they want to do. I don’t like public unions because things like the teachers’ union I think is a destructive force in education. But also the unions have become inextricably tied to the Socialist and Communist movements in America. And that’s not hyperbole, that’s an absolute fact.

So there was a rally for Boeing Machinists in Westlake Park on Monday and they invited the first Socialist to be elected to the Seattle City Council, Kshama Sawant, and what happened, as captured by KIRO TV, was pure insanity. Everybody needs to hear who dim-witted Seattle voters have elected to run the city.

According to the KIRO TV report, here’s what Sawant said at the rally: “The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine.”

She also said Boeing threatening to move the 777X jobs to other states amounts to “nothing short of economic terrorism because it’s going to devastate the state’s economy.”

So making a business deal and saying we can build these planes a lot cheaper in South Carolina, where it’s a right-to-work state, that’s economic terrorism? No it’s not; it’s called great business. If you’re running a company and you can build your product elsewhere for a lot cheaper, that’s not terrorism.

She’s calling the Boeing company terrorists. You’re calling a major employer in our region a bunch of terrorists? That’s a good way to keep the company here. That’s a brilliant strategy, new Socialist Seattle City Councilwoman.

“The only response we can have if Boeing executives do not agree to keep the plant here is for the Machinists to say the machines are here, the workers are here, we will do the jobs, we don’t need the executives,” said Sawant.

I’m sorry, this is insane. This is your newest Seattle City Councilwoman who says the workers at Boeing need to take over the plants, and get rid of all the execs. This is unbelievable.

“We are the ones doing it anyway and we can retool the machines to produce mass transit instead of destructive war machines,” Sawant explained.

I don’t know a lot about what kind of machines they have to build airplanes at Boeing. According to our new Socialist Seattle Councilwoman, we can just retool the machines, and all of a sudden a bus comes out instead of an airplane.

So the Boeing workers are going to take over the plant, they’re going to get rid of all the execs, and they’re going to retool the machines so that buses come out.

This is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard in local politics. I am so glad right now that Seattle voters elected this woman. Gosh, this is going to be fun the next four years!
