An Auburn-area man is now indicted on charges that he helped plan and carry out the January storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Ethan Nordean is one of four men described by prosecutors as leaders of the Proud Boys.

A U.S. District judge says Nordean was extensively involved in “pre-planning,” and the Proud Boys “were clearly prepared for a violent confrontation.”

Nordean is one of four group members named in the indictment unsealed on Friday.

The documents show federal investigators believe more than 60 people were involved in the Proud Boys’ encrypted messages to plan their actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
