A man was stabbed in the neck at an apartment complex in Lakewood. Police say the suspect is outstanding.

The 59-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

KIRO 7 reports the apartment building in the 2400 block of 96th St S. was locked down, but deputies have not located a suspect.

A neighbor told police the man, who lives at the complex, showed up to her door with slashes and stab wounds.

“I was trying to ask him questions because I don’t know him well enough, and he couldn’t even speak. He sounded like he was gurgling blood and he kept spitting out blood,” Nevaeh Brewer told KIRO 7.

Q-13 reports the victim is in stable condition and expected to survive after surgery.
