Two men were injured in a shooting at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila on Saturday.
Shoppers at the mall ran out of the building after hearing what sounded like gunshots around 12 p.m. on Saturday.
“We just heard a bang, and then we just heard more bangs,” an employee at Windsor, an apparel and accessories store, told KIRO 7. “And we just rushed to the back and hid.”
Both victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. KIRO 7 reports that a 32-year-old man was discharged on Sunday. A 27-year-old man, who was admitted in serious condition, is improving.
Authorities believe the situation “appears to be an isolated incident between potentially known individuals.”
“There is no indication that this incident was an active shooter,” Tukwila Police reported, later noting that a suspect was not taken into custody.
KIRO 7 reports that something happened within a group of people who likely knew each other, and one of them pulled out a gun and fired near the JC Penney.
Teams of police officers spent nearly six hours combing each store. Many shoppers were sheltered in place.
