The bidding has begun on a ticket to space.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard will fly its first astronaut crew to space on July 20, and you could be on board … for the right price, of course.

The company, owned by Jeff Bezos, is offering one seat on the flight to the winning bidder in an online auction. Starting Wednesday, anyone can place a bid at blueorigin.com during the sealed online bidding period. No bids are visible during this first period.

On May 19, the bids become visible and participants must exceed the highest bid to continue in the auction. The auction will then conclude on June 12 with a live online auction.

The winning bid amount will be donated to Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future.

How Jeff Bezos came up with the name ‘Blue Origin’

Blue Origin’s company headquarters are located in Kent, which is also the hub of the operations and where New Shepard has been designed and built.
