Good news for anyone hoping to get a Pfizer vaccine: Thurston County is looking to distribute about 800 doses set to expire by the end of the week.

South Puget Sound Community College is hosting a drive-thru clinic on Sunday to help distribute the expiring doses. All moms who get their shot on Sunday will be given flowers in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Ross: Getting vaccinated is less political than we might think

There is also a walk-up clinic at Thurston County’s Public Health building in Olympia running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday. People receiving doses can expect the vaccination process to take roughly 30 minutes, an estimate which includes a 15-minute post-vaccine wait time.

“We really hope people will come after work, school, or sports to get vaccinated. It’s easy and fast. Wait times are not long and people do not need an advance appointment,” PHSS Director Schelli Slaughter said in a written release.

Appointments are not necessary for any of these clinics.
