The mayor of Bonney Lake has officially signed a proclamation to ban vaccine passports and related segregation in his town. That comes after the city council voted in favor of the resolution last week.

Mayor Neil Johnson told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson he plans to do everything he can to let people be smart and go out to enjoy the summer.

In the resolution, the city said it will “sponsor outdoor festivals and activities for all citizens in the spirit of reconnecting with our neighbors and restoring community.”

Johnson, who said he received the second vaccine dose this last weekend, said the city is looking into small farmers markets this summer.

As for small businesses in Bonney Lake: “If they want to require masks or not require masks, it’s up to them. It’s their business,” Johnson said.
