Rep. Wilcox: Stakes are high in Washington, US but ‘we’re going to navigate this’

House Republican Leader Rep. JT Wilcox joined the Todd Herman Show on KTTH this week to discuss the political stakes in the United States, and at home in Washington.

Todd asked, “What are the stakes right now for the citizens of this country and this state?”

“Well, I think they’re they’re very, very high,” Wilcox replied.

But as a history major, Wilcox points out that the United States has been through similar things before.

“And America has come through,” he said. “We have periods in our history that are very, very difficult. We don’t want to repeat the Civil War, but I also have a lot of confidence that we’re going to navigate this. And if there is anything that history has proven over the last 40 years, is that in the long run, the left can’t win. They can do a hell of a lot of damage. They can’t win.”

“Because the truth is, people want freedom, even though it doesn’t seem like it all the time, and economics counts,” he added. “The kinds of economy that we’ve built in the United States, the greatest prosperity in the history of the world based on the free market, wins in the end. And if you’re our age, you’ve seen the utter failure and collapse of the other kinds of economies.”

Republican leaders again call on Gov. Inslee to fully reopen Washington

Todd shared his own perspective on what the stakes are.

“I think that the left and people like Jay Inslee and Bob Ferguson are working hand in hand with organizations inserting racism into our schools in order to turn kids and families against one another, inserting pornographic, perverse sex-ed into our schools in order to divide and conquer,” Todd said. “I think that we have, in Washington state, allowed two to three domestic terror groups to run wild, unchecked within Washington state, and are allowing the cartels to do the same.”

“I think this is all hand in hand in an effort to collapse the Washington state economy,” he continued.

Wilcox says where he and Todd disagree is on how successful those in power are going to be.

“I think that there are long-term plans and I think that there are a lot of organizations that work together,” he said. “All you have to do is track who is on various boards of directors. But I also think that’s not a new thing in history either. People organize in order to promote their points of view. I think you and I have talked about the sex ed mandate, for example, and it’s our job to fight against those things. That’s what politics is all about. It’s a struggle.”

“It doesn’t have to be a violent struggle. It shouldn’t be,” Wilcox added. “We should always strive to make it non violent, but it’s a struggle nonetheless. And you can’t give up.”
