Rooster owners in Kent will get to keep their birds after all.

The Kent City Council has scrapped a proposal to ban or restrict roosters, according to The Kent Reporter. Councilmembers were considering a ban due of noise complaints, but several residents came out against the proposal.

The city conducted a survey in May, which found the majority of people aren’t bothered by the noise. However, city planner Sam Alcorn said the city receives about 20 to 30 noise complaints per year.

Other options under consideration were a ban except in certain rural areas or a limit of one bird per property.

Councilmembers plan to check on noise complaints again in six months.
