Tenino teacher charged with possession of child porn

Jan 17, 2013, 3:07 PM | Updated: 3:54 pm

A teacher at Tenino Elementary School is in federal detention, charged with possession of child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney in Seattle says James Mobley, 46, was arrested at his home Wednesday. A search of Mobley’s home turned up a computer hard drive and DVDs containing child pornography.

Postal investigators say they were tipped to Mobley in connection with a company suspected of selling child pornography through the mail and through computer downloads.

“The tip came in relation to a search that was conducted on an international company where their records revealed this particular individual had made purchases,” said postal inspection service spokesman Dave Schroeder.

Postal inspectors then developed a case against Mobley before getting warrants for the arrest and search, according to Schroeder. Mobley is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Mobley is also a Boy Scouts volunteer and a private tutor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. Schroeder says both the school and the Boy Scouts have been notified of the arrest.
