The Washington State Patrol bomb squad has dismantled an explosive device found in a Silverdale parking lot.

Kitsap County deputies and firefighters were called to a report of suspicious activity in the 2200 block of Bucklin Hill Road in Silverdale at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The device was found in the parking lot behind Tractor Supply Company and Happy Nails and Spa.

Authorities secured the area and called the bomb squad. Deputies said businesses were closed and there was no need to evacuate. Deputies closed several roads in the area, including Bucklin Hill, Mickelberry and Myhre while bomb technicians were working.

The device was dismantled by Washington State Patrol Explosives Unit technicians.

Kitsap County detectives, WSP bomb squad technicians, the Kitsap County Fire Marshal, members of Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, the FBI and ATF are investigating at the scene.

All major roadways in Silverdale are open, but the area where the bomb was found remains blocked Wednesday.
