The University of Washington football team has a new head coach: Kalen DeBoer.
“[He has a] very, very good offensive mind,” KIRO Radio host Gee Scott said about DeBoer. “… I think he is a coach of the future.”

Gee also explained that DeBoer runs a “well-balanced offense.”
“He has a lot of respect out there in the college football community,” Gee added. “Now, here’s the ‘but.’ You guys got patience? Because if you’re expecting for DeBoer to come in and take the UW Huskies to the college playoffs next year, then the expectations are unreal.”
“You’ve got to give DeBoer time,” he clarified. “There are a lot of issues that he’s going to have to come in and fix.”
That said, Gee believes that if UW football really wants to get busy, make a splash, and turn recruiting around, they have to open up the checkbook.
“College football is checks, let’s be real,” he said. “… Believe it or not, boosters have a lot of say in what happens with your college football team.”
“I just don’t understand how you don’t come in here and bring someone in — whoever’s out there, you bring them in,” Gee said. “USC brought in Lincoln Riley, and automatically, I guarantee you, they’re going to be close to the playoffs next year, right away.”
