NEW YORK (AP) — In a story published April 26, 2022, about New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex, The Associated Press erroneously identified one of the lawyers who spoke during a virtual court hearing. The lawyer who told the judge inmates weren’t allowed out of cells due to a lack of guards, and who called receivership of the jail “a meaningful possibility,” was not Hayley Horowitz. The AP couldn’t immediately identify the lawyer who made those statements.
