Abandoned apartments behind the former Lava Lounge in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood caught fire Thursday morning.
The Seattle Fire Department reports that the blaze has been contained without injury.
Fire crews on the scene “remain in a defensive position” around the 2200 block of 2nd Ave. as the roof of the apartments behind the former Lava Lounge is collapsing from the stress of the inferno.

2nd and 3rd Avenues between Blanchard and Battery remain closed as crews work to fully extinguish the fire.
The Lava Lounge closed in January ahead of a redevelopment of that block of Belltown, reports the Seattle Times.
