Another well-intentioned, off-the-field decision has made Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson the butt of a few online jokes.
Wilson is featured as a Rambo-esque action hero on a poster produced by Seattle artists Tock and John Costacos, who created the iconic posters plastered on sports fans walls in the 80s and 90s. The Costacos Brothers came out of retirement after more than 20 years to create the poster, with all proceeds benefiting the Why Not You Foundation, the stated goal of which is to empower and motivate youth.

More than 100 Hall of Famers were featured in the posters during the 80s and 90s, with more than 30 million copies sold. But Twitter wasn’t around back then, and the commenters have been ruthless with Wilson.

I bet Russell Wilson made sure he would never have to look Marshawn Lynch in the eyes while in a huddle again before releasing that poster

These jokes come on the heels of other exploits that have garnered some levels of ridicule — his Good Man brand clothing, decision to stay abstinent with then-girlfriend Ciara and a hyperbole-filled commencement address, to name a few.
710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock Huard said Thursday that people love to make fun of Seattle’s straight-edged QB and acknowledged that Wilson is “on his way” to being as hated by non-Seahawks fans in the same way people despise Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. And Huard says that might not be a bad thing.
“That’s when you know you’ve made it when every one of those other fan bases can’t stand you,” Huard said. “… I think Russell is on his way (to being that hated) and I don’t think that’s a terribly bad thing.”
