Kirkland Police Department (KPD) officers arrested a man Friday after an 80-minute-long standoff for threatening to kill a maintenance worker.
According to police, the worker confronted the man at the Ridgewood Condos on suspicion of illegally dumping his trash at the complex.
The man proceeded to pull a rifle and swords from his vehicle, pointing the weapons at the maintenance employee, and threatening to murder them.

Kirkland Police responded to reports of the incident, at which point the suspect barricaded themselves in the condo complex.
After an 80-minute standoff, the man exited the unit and surrendered himself to police.
“During the standoff, the suspect would exit the back of his unit onto like a second-floor balcony, would engage with police and dialogue a little bit, and then kind of retreat back into his unit,” a spokesperson for the KPD told KIRO Newsradio.
The suspect was booked into jail under felony harassment charges Wednesday afternoon.
