Flipped plane crashes south of Tacoma, pilot uninjured

A small plane crashed around 1:00 p.m. near Tacoma Wednesday.
According to photos from the scene taken by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the plane flipped upside down, and was sitting on its wings with the fuselage up.

The plane crashed about seven miles southeast of downtown in an empty field.
Today, at 1:00 p.m., 911 callers reported that a small plane had crashed in a field in the 6100 blk of 52nd St E
Pilot was the only person on board and is uninjured
Nobody hurt on ground, no structures damaged

The pilot was uninjured and was the only person on board.
There were no injuries or damage on the ground.
A federal investigation will start into why the crash occured.
