After Saturday’s high temperatures in the mid-to-low 40′s, much of the snow that hit the Puget Sound area has melted.

However, after temperatures dropped into the 20′s overnight, any moisture that did not melt and evaporate froze.

When walking on sidewalks or driving on roads use great caution as patchy icy and slick spots are likely to cause injury or increase crashes.

With a low-pressure system parked off the coast of Oregon Saturday, on early Sunday morning it’ll start making moves heading north into western Washington.

Residents in Lewis County and central Puget Sound can expect early morning flurries as snow levels will be at 400ft.

As daytime heating increases, snow flurries will quickly transition into more of a rain/snow mix around Tacoma and slightly north with cold rain likely for Seattle.

In Lewis, Pierce, and Thurston counties snow accumulation will not be significant. According to current models, it’s fair to assume a few tenths of an inch is possible.

From Sunday into Monday morning, the refreezing of melted snow on roadways is possible yet again, raising concerns for early morning commuters.

With showers lingering in the forecast, early morning and late-night flurries are not out of the question for Monday, but expect mostly dry conditions sandwiched in between as a weak upper-level ridge develops.

On Tuesday, temperatures increase slightly but light lowland rain and mountain snow return with rinse and repeat conditions through at least Thursday.
