SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — In a story published February 9, 2023, about a new U.S. policy stalling adoptions in Haiti, The Associated Press quoted UNICEF in reporting that 1 million children are not going to school as a result of social unrest. UNICEF recalled that figure Friday, saying it had not collected sufficient evidence to back it up.
