After a problem with the ferry Kitsap brought the Seattle-Bremerton route down to one boat over the weekend, the Washington State Department of Transportation has brought in a substitute for the Monday commutes.

On Sunday night, WSDOT sent out an alert that the ferry Sealth would be replacing the Kitsap, which remains out service.

With only one ferry in service over the weekend, there were long lines of riders at the docks waiting to board, with some waits as long as two hours.

The situation would have been worse Monday as people head back to work, especially from the Bremerton side.

Sealth is a smaller boat with capacity for only 90 vehicles instead of the 124 on Kitsap, but the passenger capacity is the same.

It is not yet known when the Kitsap will resume service.
