If the thought of temperatures in the 80s and 90s makes you cringe, don’t worry too much.

As Western Washington experiences what is expected to be the hottest day of the year on Monday, cooler ocean air will make its way to the coast and, eventually, inland, KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard told Seattle’s Morning News.

That cooler air will be enough to drop temperatures to the mid- to upper-70s, Allard says. That is expected to stick around through the Memorial Day weekend.

“Not bad for this time of year,” Allard said.

“Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s to low 90s … which is much warmer than the temperatures typical for May,” the Weather Service warns.
