The “Worst Intersection in Seattle” award for 2017 goes to Denny Avenue and Stewart Street.

There were 12 nominees, all bad in their own way, according to Troy Heerwagen, a blogger who puts together the annual survey. He created the survey five years ago to raise awareness of dangerous intersections and to promote the search for solutions.

Heerwagen says the problem with Denny and Stewart is pedestrians have to contend with cars blocking the crosswalk and over-eager drivers trying to get to I-5.

Your odds of having a clear intersection to cross are about as good as the odds of the Route 8 bus being on time,” he writes in The Urbanist.

Of the five annual surveys, an intersection of Denny Way has been named the “worst” three times.

Number two on Heerwagen’s list: Northeast 45th Street and Interstate 5. The third worst intersection: Rainier Avenue South and Martin Luther King Junior Way South.
