The Elected played The Tractor Tavern last Friday night to a small but extremely adoring crowd. Blake Sennett (formerly of Rilo Kiley) and crew took the stage opening with the uber upbeat and ear catching ‘Babyface’ from The Elected’s brand new full length Bury Me In My Rings before moving on to play the lead track from the same record, ‘Born to Love You’. By the way, Blake Sennett dropped by the mixtape recently to chat with Alyssa K and myself and if you missed it, you should go here to listen.

Blake and Co. played a quick set that lasted probably 40 minutes which included select songs from earlier The Elected records, a handful of tunes from the newest addition to the catalog and there was at least one Rilo Kiley song that made the cut. The only reason I knew we had heard a Rilo Kiley song was thanks to Alyssa K knowing her stuff. The Elected played song after song with minimal chatter in between save for a couple of instances of shout outs one namely where Blake called out to a friend at one point, said this one’s for you and he then began playing a bit of a solo from a Dire Straits tune. Overall, the show was super fun, the energy throughout the night both from the stage and from the audience was off the charts and it was fantastic to see Blake having fun and happy to be playing music again.

The Chop Suey was packed with folks eager to see what Memory Tapes had to bring to the stage and seeing that it was a Tuesday night, that's definitely saying something about Dayve Hawk, the man behind the band.
