The new “it” girl – Rebecca Black
She’s the next Justin Bieber with a massive hit that is spreading through social media. Here’s everything you need to know about Rebecca Black, so you won’t say, “Who?” the next time you see or hear that name.
Black had her first major media interview today with Good Morning America, after her song “Friday” went viral making her huge on Facebook and the top trending topic on Twitter for days. Considering all the events that are going on in the world from Japan to Libya, having Black be a big deal on Twitter does not help me make a case for social media’s value. However, it has diverted our attention from Charlie Sheen. That alone makes me like her. #Winning.
Here’s the video for her viral-sensation song.
What do you think? I don’t really get it with her. Although the video has had over 17 million views on YouTube, she’s also taken a lot of hits from critics who are ridiculing her voice and almost everything else about her. There are dozens of parody videos of her song “Friday.”
She appears to be laughing off the criticism, but does admit cruel comments made her cry at first.
Black’s song has sold over two million copies on iTunes since Tuesday. Something cool about the 13-year-old – she’s donating profits from the song to school arts programs and relief efforts in Japan.
Her goals? She’d love to do a duet with Justin Bieber. “That would be unreal. It would make my life,” she says.
