While most of us were sleeping last night, volunteers were out counting the number of people who are homeless in King County.
More than 900 volunteers found 2,442 people sleeping on the streets, under bridges, in their cars, on public transit, in temporary shelters and in makeshift campsites.
That’s 317 fewer people than were counted one year ago. It’s a drop of 11 percent, and that’s the first double-digit drop homeless advocates have seen in years of counting.
