People who are used to referring to “Hec Ed,” the sports center at the University of Washington, might have to call it by a different name.
Today the UW Board of Regents will vote on a proposed sponsorship for Hec Edmunson Pavilion. Alaska Airlines has offered the university $700,000 a year for the naming rights. The 10-year deal would mean $400,000 in cash payments each year along with $25,000 a year in travel vouchers, 20 MVP Gold memberships and an additional $175,000 per year in other sponsorship opportunities.

Hec Ed is named after Clarence S. “Hec” Edmundson who was a college basketball head coach at the University. He also coached the track teams and served on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee from 1941-46.
