New punishment for a teacher

A state panel has decided to decrease the punishment against a Morton teacher who was accused of inappropriately touching girls.
The Admissions and Professional Conduct Advisory Committee has changed Michael Moulton’s license suspension from three years to two. They did that to make his punishment more in line with previous suspensions against teachers.
A state investigation found that Moulton had violated the state’s code of conduct. In September, the state schools superintendent suspended him after he failed to show up for school for several days.
One of Moulton’s alleged victims, Balinda, who only wanted us to use her first name, says Moulton offered her drugs and pornography while she was baby sitting at his home.
Moulton was never tried in that case, because prosecutors decided there wasn’t enough evidence to go forward with the case, even though a police report was filed.
The 56-year-old was convicted of inappropriately touching four girls in 2008 and served 16 days in the Lewis County Jail.
Regardless of the change in his suspension, the state says Moulton is not a classroom educator now and likely won’t be allowed to teach again.
