Event to honor Dave Niehaus

Nov 17, 2010, 1:35 PM | Updated: Mar 28, 2011, 3:46 pm

DaveThe Seattle Mariners released a few more details about the ceremony they’re planning to pay tribute to the late, great Dave Niehaus at Safeco Field on December 11th.

The “Celebration of Life” honoring Dave’s begins at 1:10, with the gates opening at Safeco at noon on Saturday, December 11th.

The program for the afternoon is still being developed. It will include tributes from the Niehaus family, Mariners players, and Dave’s close associates throughout his long and celebrated career in the game of baseball.

The event will be in the seating bowl at Safeco Field, and while the roof will protect from rain, it is likely to be chilly, so fans should plan to dress for the weather. There will be complimentary hot coffee, tea and cocoa available for those in attendance.

Free parking for the December 11th event will be available in the Safeco Field garage. Fans should plan to enter the ballpark through the Home Plate Gate at the corner of 1st Ave. South and Edgar Martinez Drive.

For those who would like to make a donation in Dave’s memory, the family has suggested the following:

American Heart Association

American Diabetes Association

Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network

As further details about the December 11th event become available, the information will be posted on the team’s website.
