We’re in the middle of KIRO’s Foster Child Holiday Magic, raising money for gifts and activities (piano lessons, sports teams, etc.) for young ones who would normally go without this holiday season.
Your donations are needed! Call 1-877-547-6454 to reach our call center, or pitch in online here.
For more inspiration, listen to this morning’s Ross and Burbank conversation with Sam Martin, a Treehouse alumn who was born into foster care and is now a senior at the University of Washington:
“Life was just really inconsistent for me. Treehouse has been the one constant since about sixth grade,” said Sam, 20, who lost his best friend, also in foster care, at 17 due to gang violence.
“I was always told I wouldn’t be successful…a lot of times I was ready to give up on myself…it was Treehouse that said that I could do something.”
For Sam, that included tutoring and help with homework, along with the chance to do normal kid stuff, like play football, go to summer camp, and rent a tuxedo for prom.
“If you’re able to do positive things, you reap the benefits.”

As of the end of today’s Ross and Burbank, KIRO listeners have donated $125,318 dollars. AMAZING job, one and all, and keep those donations coming as Holiday Magic rolls on with Dori Monson!
