It’s December and you know what that means
Listen to Dave Ross Commentary:
Congress is in lame duck session, and to make sure the duck isn’t just faking it… Republicans have been circulating a pledge to block any bill that’s not about extending the tax cuts, and cutting government spending.
— On the theory that those issues are so important, there is no time for anything else.
Republicans and conservative Democrats have also allowed extended unemployment benefits to expire, on the theory that cutting the deficit is just too important.
But as important and time consuming as these issues are, there is ALWAYS time for another skirmish in the never ending War on Christmas:
Yes — because it’s December! And someone noticed that at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington there is an exhibit of homoerotic art, including a video called “Fire in my Belly” which shows Jesus on a crucifix covered by insects — specifically, crawling ants.
The artist says it represents the suffering of AIDS victims.
But the top two Republicans in the House, Eric Cantor and John Boehner say it symbolizes the arrogance of Washington and was obviously designed to offend Christians during the Christmas season.
But don’t worry America — the Smithsonian knowing full well what a big fat target it just made itself — has turned the video off!
Once again thwarting another attempt to undermine Christmas.
And allowing Congress to pay full attention to making sure those unemployment checks are cut off… just in time for…Christmas.
