Record election turnout expected

Secretary of State Sam Reed predicts voter response in the approaching November 2nd General Election will hit 66 percent. That would be a record for a mid-term election.
Ballots will be mailed beginning Wednesday of this week. Voters’ pamphlets will also be arriving by the end of this week.

Elections people tell me they’ve “tried to keep the tree killing to a minimum.” The majority of the election guides were printed on recycled paper.
Creating the pamphlets is such a big job that one company alone can’t handle all the printing. This year, the work was divvied up among the three largest printers in the state. The presses run 24/7, but printing the pamphlets still takes nearly three weeks. Twenty-eight editions of the pamphlet are created, including Spanish and Chinese editions.
