In the first poll since Tuesday’s primary election in Washington, the gap between Democratic Senator Patty Murray and Republican Dino Rossi grows slightly.
A new Rasmussen phone survey of likely voters finds Murray has 48 percent of voters’ support, while Rossi earns 44 percent of the vote. About four percent would vote for someone else, even though we’re now down to only two options, and another four percent are undecided. Previous polls had the candidates at a tie before the primary.
When voters were asked about their attitudes toward the candidates, Murray was viewed “very favorably” by 32 percent of Washington voters and unfavorably by 33 percent. With Rossi, 25 percent view him favorably, and 30 percent unfavorably.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
A KING 5 TV/Survey USA poll shows an entirely different result. Their phone survey of 600 likely voters across the state shows Rossi ahead with 52 percent of the support, while Murray is trailing with 45 percent from likely voters. That poll, with the same margin of error, was taken after Tuesday’s primary.
