We’re broadcasting our show from the ballpark. It’s opening day at home for the Seattle Mariners!
Listen to us 5-9 this morning on 97.3 KIRO FM, or online here. Gregg Hersholt has done a lot of pre-production for this morning’s show, including a clubhouse tour and a chat with the head groundskeeper. Bill Swartz, a man of many talents and many voices, will have pointed questions for M’s President Chuck Armstrong, who’s joining us at 7:30 and General Manager Jack Zduriencik who will be with us for the 8:00 hour. Let me know if there’s something you’d like me to ask Jack Z or Chuck for you.
You’ll hear about new Safeco treats to eat, the best way to get to the ballpark, and a touching story about the boy who gets to run the bases before the game begins this afternoon. Throughout the broadcast, I’ll be uploading behind-the-scenes pictures for you to see here, through Twitpics.
Speaking of pics. Have have you seen the picture from Shannon Drayer’s blog with Ken Griffey, Jr. holding her microphone out of reach just before she needed to use it for one of her dugout reports? Cute Ken!
Everybody loves Griffey and Ichiro. And there are definitely interesting personalities on this team. Milton Bradley comes to Seattle with a reputation that most are hoping he’ll leave behind.
Ryan Rowland-Smith is my favorite, partly because he’s the only Mariner on Twitter as @hyphen18. Oooh, and then there’s that Aussie accent. He’s the M’s starting pitcher today. Good luck!
On opening day, everyone has hope. Maybe this is our World Series team?
How do you feel about this group of guys? They’re heading into their first home stand with a 2-5 record. Do you “Believe Big” in the Mariners?
