Kelly Ripa is addicted to something created in Seattle…and it’s not coffee

I usually don’t watch Regis and Kelly, but this morning Jerry Seinfeld was co-hosting and I just finished blasting through it on Tivo (one of 3 DVRs in our house, pathetic? Yes.)
Kelly Ripa is into Bejeweled! That’s not something she wears around her neck or as a bracelet. It’s an addictive online game made by a Seattle-based company, PopCap Games.
“Ladies, put your hands together for Bejeweled,” she said to the applause of the crowd.
There are three different versions of the online game which has been downloaded more than 150 million times. The goal is super simple – swap one gem to form a horizontal or vertical chain of three or more gems, then they disappear and you get points. Sometimes chain reactions, called cascades, are triggered, where chains are formed by the falling gems. Bonus points for you. It gets more difficult with each level you pass, and there will come a point when you can’t line up the gems.
It is mindless, but sometimes that’s what you need to escape after an intense day at work. Right?
Every once in awhile, when the kids aren’t looking, I play my favorite PopCap game, Chuzzle! It works the same way as Bejeweled, except the little characters are adorably adorable.
Kelly and I shared our guilty pleasures. What’s yours?
