A Few Dollarinis More

Queue up the Green Day backed montage of all the great times we had at KIRO. Squeaky chairs & mic stands, stalkers showing up at the station, shoes on a wire over Eastlake Avenue, last second tequila and full priced nachos at Azteca before running up the stairs to start the show, mackerel stinking up the microwave, the gap in the bathroom stall right next to the urinal so you can sit and watch another man micturate… I hope you had the time of your life.
We thought it was over in 2009 when Luke danced drunkenly around the station in his crime fighters but like any torrid love affair the relationship between TBTL and KIRO had embers that would glow for years through MyNorthwest.com. We all knew there would come a day when another suitor would sweep TBTL off its feet, much like Richard Gere swept Debra Winger off her feet in An Officer And A Gentleman. Coincidentally, that also happened in the small maritime village of Port Townsend at Fort Worden.
What does this mean for ol’ Clip Clop and the TBTL blog? Hard to say right now, as there doesn’t appear to be a MyNorthwest.com equivalent over at American Public Media’s Infinite Guest Podcast Network. But know this, Tens. I am the Tom Joad of TBTL. Wherever there’s a dude who looks like Lord Grantham disregarding traffic laws or not voting in a boring mid-term election I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cute dog jumping on disgruntled lesbian beachgoers I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a manchild picking cheese off a perfectly good sandwich I’ll be there. But for now, tens, sleep well and dream of tiny wigs and bearded lips.
