The new Hawkeyes tradition is so much more than a wave. It’s 70,585 people throwing their support behind the patients at Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The hospital towers over Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium. Children can see the field from their hospital rooms. Up until Sept. 2, it was only that — a good view.
Now, at the end of every first quarter fans turn towards the hospital and wave at the hospital.
If you have any doubt about what a wave can do for a child recovering from a medical procedure ESPN will erase all doubt.
