How old is too old to trick-or-treat? That's the question after Ron's little brother said he was going trick-or-treating even though he's a junior in high school and about 6'2. (AP photo)

I was having a heated debate with our program director and web director about the maximum age for trick-or-treating.

My little brother, I’m in the Big Brother program, he informed me that he is going trick-or-treating this year. Now here is the issue. He is a junior in high school and he is about 6’2. So I wanted to take a poll. I don’t want to tell him to not go trick-or-treating if he wants to go trick-or-treating.

I don’t know if this falls under the guidelines of Big Brothers. So I was taking an informal Ron of the Ron and Don Show poll.

James, who runs MyNorthwest.com, said he punched out at 12. Pete, our news director, said it was 13 and by the time he was 14, he was trying to figure out how to ask a girl out. So that seems fair.

I think I clearly remember going as a freshman in high school. Rachel Belle chimed in immediately and said that she trick-or-treated until she graduated from high school, which is 18. She’s like 6’1.

So here’s how my theory evolved. I think if you’re small in stature, like if you’re Danny O’Neil, you could probably trick-or-treat as Danny O’Neil from 710 ESPN until you’re 30 because he looks like he’s in junior high.

If you’re at 5’2 and you’re 15, I think you’re fine. Now, if you’re 12 and you’re 6 feet tall, I think you’re screwed. Because from the door it looks like you’re 16 or 17-years-old. So I don’t know what the answer is.

There’s a town in Georgia that is outlawing trick or treating past the age of 12. I think freshman year is the cutoff. That’s just what it feels like to me. But I don’t know. What do you say?

Sometimes, "gone but not forgotten" isn't always how slain officers are remembered. But in Pierce County, a special effort is being made to commemorate a fallen deputy.
