Worries over State government shutdown are silly

Get ready for panic. Get ready for an end to summer vacation as we know it. Get ready to be angry, specifically at the state legislature.
There have been a couple of different reports on how the State government could shut down as early as the end of this month, if lawmakers are unable to come to an agreement on the budget.
Here’s why it’s silly: it’s the first of the month.
I saw a report on the potential impacts of a government shutdown and an interview with an obligatory family who is upset that the state parks could be shutdown. This is the time of year when we need the parks, the family told reporters.

First of all, we need a state law that says if the government is shutdown, state parks won’t close. Some kind of provision that we will be able to utilize facilities. Most of the time you don’t need a government official anyway. Other law enforcement that could be responsible and they could still have a payment requirement.
But this conversation about a shutdown is almost irrelevant. Because it’s the first of the month. The negotiations have been ongoing.
There’s no way democrats are going to sit there and not make some kind of deal between now and June 30, because it would be an exercise in futility.
What are you supposed to do, go into an election cycle and say we’re outraged, we’re collecting far more than we ever expected?
Democrats haven’t passed tax increases they say are necessary. The only way you want to pass them is with Republican support. And we, as Republicans, don’t want to.
Let’s deal with what’s on the table.
I don’t believe for an instant there will be a state government shutdown, despite government workers getting 30-day notices. That’s just going through the motions.
